K-Drama: I Really Really Like You

Made in 2006 this was a long drama! There were literally 34 episodes but they only clocked about 50 minutes each so it wasnt thaaaat bad. The plot is really simple; country bumpkin Yeo Bong Soon grew up in the mountains with her grandmother where she looked after chickens and cows, had no electricity, no bathroom (out house eww!) and best of all only a jr high education. Of all the mountains to hike the president of South Korea’s SON Jang Joon Won hikes up Bong Soons and of course falls, gets knocked unconscious and hurts his leg. Yup, you guessed it Bong Soon during her daily walk finds him, brings him home like a lost puppy and she and her grandmother nurse him back to health. But of course there must be a love triangle! Enter Nam Bong Ki a secret service agent for the President! He’s totally rude, crude and childish! While he goes to pick up the president’s son he meets Bong Soon, completely hates her and so begins the drama!

I actually liked this drama. It involved the Blue House, hot secret service agents, scenes with those hot agents stripped down to their speedos (literally) at the pool. Fun banter between Bong Soon and Bong Ki, a kitchen cat fight, an ex porn star, a wife with dementia, a teenage thief, Korean country dialect and of course an exhausting love triangle! However I only gave it 3 out of 5 Soju bottles because by episode 26 I was emotionally drained. Bong Soon would not stop crying, Joon Won would not stop crying and one half of the love triangle was not progressing as much as it should have and I was just like “COME ON!!”. Lee Min Ki was excellent as Nam Bong Ki and was by far my favorite character in this drama. It was long but I don’t regret watching. BTW there was this seriously awkward club scene where they were blasting that Whisper song by the Ying Yang Twins…yes it was unedited and I was just like 0_0

Cast List

Kim Yoo Jin as Yeo Bong Soon

Lee Min Ki as Nam Bong Ki

Ryu Jin as Jang Joon Won

K-Drama: City Hunter

See I told all you City Hunter fans out there that I’d give this drama another go! I’m so glad I did because it was soooo good. For those of you who were like me falling off the first episode after 20 minutes; seriously keep watching! It really becomes addicting. Each episode has crazy cliff hangers that will keep you up till like 5am totally ignoring the fact you have to get up in a few hours and get ready for work/school (trust me I did it).

So alright here’s the run down. Back in the 80s, 20 S. Korean soldiers were murdered after they completed a secret mission. However 1 of the men survived and vowed to take revenge on the men who ordered the kill. That man who survived, Lee Jin Pyo kidnaps the new-born child of his friend who was one of the 20 killed and runs off to Thailand. Lee Min Ho plays that child who grows up training and preparing to help Lee Jin Pyo with his revenge plan. Let me just say if you loved Goo Joon Pyo you’re going to love Lee Min Ho’s character Lee Yoon Sung. He’s basically the same except he doesn’t have major anger management issues and has a better hair style. Also just like in BOF he has a crazy parent. His father Lee Jin Pyo is totally insane, out of his mind, off the wall CRAZY. I believe if Goo Joons Pyos mom got together with Lee Jin Pyo and had a baby they would create the Devil.

I loved how this drama had a little bit of everything in it. Lots of action scenes and blood so its great if you have a guy you wanna share a drama with. Great eye candy moments such as a repeat BOF shower scene with Lee Min Ho staring at himself in a mirror while water just streamed down his body! The prosecutor played by Lee Joon Hyuk sitting in just a towel in the sauna while his hot body glistened of sweat! Then of course there’s a bit of comedy, a complicated love story between Lee Min Ho and Park Min Young who just happens to be his real life girlfriend ^_^

However I gave this drama only 3 out of 5 Soju Bottles based on the fact something happened in the drama that I just did not care for what so ever. Totally uncalled for and really didn’t add to or take away from the storyline. Also I usually don’t mind drama endings but this one was just weird. I’d like to think I’m a fairly intelligent person and this ending just left me confused and asking myself “okayyy what was that all about?” Maybe a part 2 is in the works? Either way City Hunter is a must see!

K-Drama: Goong Princess Hours

Sorry for the long pause in between drama reviews but this is special! Its November and there’s a special reason I’m talking about Goong. Can anyone guess what it could be? ^_^ Well anywho yes Goong, also known as Goong Princess Hours or Goong Palace Hours. Why so many variations? Dont ask me I don’t know but I usually see it as Goong Princess Hours so lets just rock with that.

I have to admit when I first started watching this drama I was bored. There was alot of political monarchy talk and flash backs. Dont even get me started on the grandmothers hair accessories, they were totally tripping me out adding to my already confused state. Like seriously what were those spinning springy things?!?! It wasnt until after the long-winded wedding that the drama got realllll goooood. I mean the stuff that went down I was staring at the screen like O_O  !!!

Ok so Goong goes like this…The Crown Prince of Korea, Lee Shin (Joo Ji Hoon) goes to a “regular” high school and the royal family decides its time for him to get married. Well he asks his girlfriend to marry him and she straight up plays him and was all like “oh noo I can’t marry you because I wanna be a famous ballerina and dance my life away blah blahh” Riiight well sucks for her because the royal family already had his wife to be all set. The girl hes suppose to be marrying Shin Chae Kyung (Yoon Eun Hye) is a fellow student in the Art department of his school. Well things get REAL complicated when his cousin Lee Yul (Kim Jung Hoon) who was supposed to be the Crown Prince up until his father, the former King died shows up out of nowhere! O.M.G! Seriously between Yul’s crazy mother trying to make him Crown Prince again, Shin’s nutcase of a ballerina ex gf, Shin’s serious mistreatment of Chae Kyung (he was a real bastard) and Chae Kyungs pain and crying you will seriously love this drama. I give it 3 out 5 bottles of Soju. DRINK UP!

K-Drama: ‘You’re Beautiful’

What’s with all these Asian chicks transforming into hot guys?! It’s a question I asked myself when I started watching this drama. ‘You’re Beautiful’ has to be one of the funniest Kdrama’s I’ve seen. Some of the situations are just down right ridiculous. If you enjoyed ‘Coffee Prince’ then I’m pretty sure you’re going to dig this. So here’s what its all about!

Ok, Go Mi Nyeo (Park Shin Hye) is a young girl with dreams of becoming a full-fledged nun (she grew up in a convent). One day out of nowhere the manager of the huge KPOP band A.N.JELL shows up and tells Go Mi Nyeo that her TWIN BROTHER Go Mi Nam was just chosen as their newest member but is in a bit of trouble and really needs her help.
Basically what happened to Go Mi Nam is he went for the double eyelid surgery and was left unable to close his eyes; Sooooo he had to fly to America to get it corrected. They need Go Mi Nyeo to pretend to be her brother just to sign his contract and attend a short press conference introducing him. The catch is none of the other members of A.N.JELL know about ANY OF THIS and Go Mi Nyeo winds up pretending to be Go Mi Nam longer than expected!

Be on the look out for eye candy cast member introductions this week and enjoy the show! ^_^

Cast List

Jang Geun Suk as Hwang Tae Kyung

Park Shin Hye as Go Mi Nam (Male) / Go Mi Nyeo (Female)

Jung Yong Hwa as Kang Shin Woo

Lee Hong Ki as Jeremy

K-Drama: Boys Before Flowers

This was the first drama I ever watched and it not only turned my world upside down, but it had a MAJOR influence on Korea and made the cast members household names throughout all of Asia. I’ll put it to you this way, guys wanted to be F4 and women wanted to bang them. This drama revolved around pure unrealistic excess which I LOVED!

The plot is simple; poor daughter of a dry cleaner is given a swimming scholarship to attend the elite private ShinHwa High where she encounters “F4” a group of 4 uber rich, hot, sexy, heirs to immense fortunes. You can expect fast cars, big houses, fighting, nose bleeds, crying, screaming, an intense love triangle, Exotic locales, a crazy monster of a mother, kidnapping, obsession, lies, womanizers, expensive dates, serious anger management issues, laughter, heart wrenching moments and lots of eye candy!

If you’ve never watched a Kdrama before I suggest you start with this one. The ONLY website I use to watch all my dramas is VIKI.COM Not only can you watch but you can also comment back and forth with other people watching at the same time.       (Note: On Viki the title is ‘Boys Over Flowers’ on Hulu its ‘Boys Before Flowers’)

Cast List: Goo Hye Sun as Geum Jan Di..Lee Min Ho as Goo Joon Pyo..Kim Hyun Joong as Yoon Jihoo..Kim Bum as So Yi Jung..Kim Joon as Song Woo Bin
