Jo Odagiri Challenges Himself

35-year-old Japanese thespian Jo Odagiri loves a good challenge and prefers making films outside of his native Japan so that his ego isn’t needlessly fed. I gotta respect that he doesn’t want to be coddled. Check out the interesting interview below where he so calmly, and so carefully discusses what attracted him to starring in the 2009 film “The Warrior and the Wolf”.

Wow, this guy is so cool. I’m talking James Dean cool! I don’t imagine he’ll want to challenge himself enough to cross over the pond to Hollywood, but then again, I don’t think I would really want him to. Yep, there is this on-going struggle within myself concerning talented Asian entertainers crossing over into Hollywood. I so badly want recognition and exposure for them, but I don’t want them to be chewed up and spit out by the Hollywood machine. And if they’re gonna be chewed up and spit out (ONLY IF), then by goodness, they should come out as top, A-list Hollywood actors.

But only the strongest mental candidates need apply. Hollywood ain’t for the faint of heart. I really think Bi would thrive. He’s got a tough, resilient mind, and I don’t think there’s anything he can’t handle. Kid’s been through a lot, and I’m not just referring to his pre-debut days. Ayy, anyway. Everyone have a great start to your week!
