Lee Taemin: Immortal Song II

Idol contestants, audience votes, new song renditions and battles by draw selection all put together form the basics behind the show Immortal Song II. Because I’m a total Korean everything YouTube Junkie I hooked you all up with an episode of the show. You’ll notice some familiar faces like SHInee’s Jonghyun, Super Juniors Yesung and BEAST member Yoseob ^_^

This season SHINee is getting another chance to make it into the winners circle with the participation of their maknae Lee Taemin! Ohh yeahhhh we’re gonna see Taemin take already popular songs and make them his own. I know the dancing will be good because he’s got that on lock (duh!) but what about the singing? It’s not like he’s bustin out lead vocals on a regular basis. Now I know he’s been practicing his singing; hes even filled in for Jonghyun while he was M.I.A for a performance of Lucifer ( He was def earning that paycheck pssh! The way Taemin was running around that stage you would have thought he was filling in for the whole group.)

But the question is will the lights go off on him? I personally don’t think so and I’m not saying it because of my total adoration for him. Taemin really has a unique beautiful tone to his voice. I think he’ll have no problem holding his own in the competition; What does everyone else think?

Ask an Asian Guy!

*UPDATE* Thanks for all your submissions! We have gathered all the questions needed for this so no need for further submissions ^_^

Does that title sound a little weird? I was trying to think of something better but it is what it is..literally. After the whole dating series I did, everyone’s comments got me thinking. I know some of you don’t really have the opportunity to sit and talk to an Asian guy and I’m sure you all have questions right? I mean do you find yourself googling and Youtubing dying to know what Asian guys think of you, what they like etc?? What if yours truly was able to provide you all with your very own Asian guy to question?

Ha! I know that sounds bad like I’m renting an Asian guy or something but it’s totally not like that I swear! ^_^ I have something seriously awesome in the works for the New Year and what I want to know from everyone is…

If you could question an Asian guy what would you ask him? Nothing is off-limits so go for it! Post your question(s) below…you neverrrr know YOUR question just might get answered! ^_^

*UPDATE* Thanks for all your submissions! We have gathered all the questions needed for this so no need for further submissions ^_^

Real Asian Men Dont Come with English Subtitles

I wanted to share my “personal k-drama” experience with you all. This is just some random insight on my interaction with a total FOB (fresh off the boat) Korean guy who has been living here for 8 months studying English. I have lots of Korean friends from Korea but they have lived here for a few years so communication is easy. A lot of you might not know this but I actually volunteer helping Korean students perfect their English skills. However this was the first time I’ve gone on a date with a Korean who is FOB. Sooo here we go with my observations and experiences!

Texting simple English is best because too much is like over load.

Honestly if I didn’t know as much Korean as I do, the whole communication situation would be extremely frustrating for both of us. We flip-flop back and forth between English and Korean pretty much during every conversation.

Just like you see the Idols getting extremely shy when they are complimented so does he ^_^

Yes he likes it when I say “oppa”.

Koreans have a thing with comparing girls to animals; remember Heechul saying that one chick looked like a poodle because she had curly hair? Well I was told I have eyes like a Shih Tzu

  • The size of my eyes are a big deal to him. He loves that I have double lids and that they are “doll-like” along with being similar to a dogs -_-

As if you havent already realized Koreans like good skin. He talked about my skin ALOT and even rested his hand beside mine and said we are about the same color but that I’m only a little darker. It was so random yes, but honestly it wasnt about the color of my skin as much as it was about the condition of my skin. No matter what “shade” you are just take care of it. Keep it smooth and looking fresh! We actually did talk about face masks and what not. It was somewhat weird how he noticed things dare I say American guys don’t reallllly notice.

You know how in dramas they are dominant? Well he was no different telling me the night BEFORE the date to only look at him. He refused to acknowledge status not because he’s in America but because he likes me, so there is no way he’s calling me “noona”.However I continued to remind him kindly that he is my dongsaeng by using “ah” at the end of his name which is what you say when someone is younger than you. Older is “shi” for reference. (Hey you gotta put a guy in check some how rightt?!)

We’re all familiar with the Korean weight loss nonsense right? Well of course he sat there and explained that he wants to lose weight because he’s getting fat; meanwhile he’s tall (6 feet actually) and slim but has good thighs and arms and a totally defined Jaw line. Sooo I had to let him know he was talking crazy and that he should actually eat a burger.

You know the stalker-ish/obsessive personality traits the men in dramas seem to have? Well he was no exception. Last friday is when we exchanged numbers. Friday night is when the texting began and has not stopped. It’s actually overwhelming especially because he is really open about his feelings. On my date he told me that he wants me to see him “as a man” and then he said he liked me in Korean (MAJOR K-DRAMA MOMENT). He’s already planning skype conversations when he goes back to Korea, Bike riding along the Han River when I visit in the summer, wanting me to date only him when I actually move to Korea which is a freakin year and a half away! Me getting along with his unnie and oh the best one was he doesn’t want me going to Ktown anymore because there are too many Korean guys there. Totally k-drama leading guy out of control intense activity going on!! BTW I’m not going to sit here and say that’s how every single Korean guy is because it’s not, but it is actually common so be prepared!

So what I realized is..yes alot of the cliché’s about what they like are true. Those “k-drama moments” we all love are actually weird and awkward even overwhelming at times. Over all it was fun and I’ll keep seeing him till he goes back to Korea which is at the end of January. However I’ll keep going to Ktown and I will not be looking only at him. Also he wanted my twitter and even a link to the blog PSSHH YAHHH RIGHT WITH THAT MESS! Funny thing though, you all know how I’m Team Kim Hyun Joong/Jae Joong? Well he’s Team Rain! He freakin loves Rain….go figure!

Anyone else have a similar experience with an Asian guy?

[M/V] Infinite – Paradise

Apologies for being a few months late on this one, but I couldn’t help but want to share it (with those of you who haven’t already heard it). I.LOVE.THIS.SONG. I love the 80’s feel and overall groove. It’s actually a very refreshing and unique sound for a K-pop boyband. In this case, the boyband is 7-member Infinite, from Woollim Entertainment. I’ve heard alot about these guys (people at the K-pop festival were really hoping that Infinite would be added to the roster), but never really looked into them until now. I hope you enjoy!

[M/V] Jung Jinwoon – Now or Never

2AM singer Jinwoon has been hard at work at his solo career. I’m really proud of the route he’s taking. The style of music he’s chosen seems a road less traveled by most K-pop stars. He’s obviously proving that he isn’t like the rest. I think he’s onto something. Let’s support him, you guys. Follow him on Twitter @ 2AMjinwoon. P.S. – I’m liking the vid…very Peter Gabriel-esque….

Skinship with Aziatix!

Haha nothing like that! They all just held my hand which I’ll say still counts as skinship ^_^ Last night was amazing! As you all know for the past two weeks I’ve been on a major Aziatix kick. I was getting all hyped up for their concert at Gramercy theater; I was mentioning them in my tweets and posts and just whenever I could in my life because it was just THAT serious. How can I even describe the sound of Aziatix? If you’ve never heard them then you obviously live under a rock so refer yourself to their Youtube channel and get AZICATED!

Their music is like dancing poetry. The lyrics they spit have meaning, they’re the real deal; non of the lyrical crap that makes no damn sense. Their live performance was amazazing! They performed my favorite song ‘Slippin Away’ and I was just like wow I can’t freaking believe my song is being sung live! O.M.G! (talk about having a fangirl moment).

They were so interactive with the fans during their performance. All 3 reached out to crowd; Nicky even took a fans camera and recorded himself singing! It was seriously SOOO COOL! I was really pleased with the attention we were all given.  Now the crowd itself was awesome it was so diverse! White, Black, Asian, Hispanic, everyone was bumpin under one roof and so many good-looking faces! You wanna see some good-looking people besides Aziatix themselves, just hit up one of their concerts because their fans are gorgeous and you miiiiight get a date! At one point I heard chanting for Eddie and when I turned to see where it was coming from to my surprise it was a group of hot Asian guys! I was like that is just so cute, cool and uh different o_0…But then I joined in their chant so whatevz!

After the performance Aziatix held a meet and greet (fan-girled out on the inside!) and being the smart cookie that I just happen to be; I carefully waited till most of the fans were seen before buying my huge poster (It’s the main article pic!)and stepping online to meet them. First up was Nicky and he’s adorable like O.M.G he has the sweetest smile! I told him how I work for BWLB and we always talk about them and support them 100%. Eddie was in the middle and Flowsik on the end. I told all 3 of them of the sites support and actually you know what?! They all took my hand and were sincerely thankful and appreciative of our efforts to help them blow up. They gave me total eye contact and I felt really honored and proud that I was their fan. They’re good people I could just tell from the vibes I was getting. Really! you know when you can just feel good energy? They weren’t just going along with what I was saying, they were honestly engaged in my mini conversation because if they weren’t you know I’d let you all know. Nicky is adorable and he has kind eyes, Eddie is such a flower boy with really good skin and he did two epic hair flips that had me going “HOT” but then wondering what shampoo and hair products he used (Shhh!? You know I think about these kind of things!). Flowsik had shades on but he was all laid back hot you know what I mean? Like that “I’m so cool I can sit in a dark theater with my shades on and not seem ridiculous at all” cool! I hope I get to see them again and I hope you all get your chance to experience and meet Flowsik, Eddie and Nicky also. AZIATIX FIGHTING!

For more on Aziatix search for them by name on our blog and visit their website at http://www.aziatix.com/

Picture taking is not my strong point sorry! But check out the Eddie silhouette pic!!

English and Cultural Interaction Class with Super Junior!

I don’t know about you all, but there are times when I forget that for the most part my beloved Asian Idols and actors don’t actually speak English and don’t realllllly understand my culture. It’s strange isn’t it? I spend hours watching dramas, listening to music and watching their reality based moments on Youtube. I’ve gotten so use to subtitles and hearing the Korean language being spoken that my brain isn’t working properly! In my eyes they are just like “us” and through technology our communication is on point. But leave it to Super Junior to put me in check! While I was stalking Heechul on Youtube (he’s recently made it to my Hot Asian “hes gonna be my bf” list) I came across this video of him and a few other members learning how to communicate in English. ^_^ They were being taught how the same words or phrases spoken, could carry different meaning and how us foreigners like personal space so don’t just run up on us. It was so cute! They all took turns acting out scenarios and Heechul couldn’t understand why a girl got so mad after he said she looked like a “poodle” because poodles were cute.

Ahhh the perfect job would def be teaching Idols English for shizzle!

[M/V] Kim Hyun Joong – Lucky Guy

So we’ve come full circle with the final member of the F4 Kim Hyun Joong. As we know he portrayed Yoon Jihoo in Boys Before/Over Flowers and now hes back this month with his second mini album and first single ‘ Lucky Guy.’ What do you all think of the song and his look?

BTW if you’ve seen the Kdrama ‘Lie to Me’ you’ll notice the main girl (Hong Soo Hyun) played Yoo So Ran the fickle friend of Gong Ah Jong ( Yoon Eun Hye ❤ )
