Bi Wants To Meet the World’s 2 Most Powerful Black Women

Actually, they are the 2 most powerful women—period. Regardless of their race. Oh I so hope he gets to meet Oprah and Michelle Obama one day!!

A few weeks ago when Bi traveled to NYC from South Korea to attend the Time 100 Gala, he was asked by fans who else on the Most Influential list he was most looking forward to meeting. After answering that he’d most like to meet President Obama, he then added that he also wanted to meet Oprah Winfrey. After the gala ended, he commented that contrary to expectations, the First Lady had not attended the highly esteemed event. One couldn’t help but notice the disappointment in his voice and facial expression.

Its not hard to understand why Bi would want to meet such powerful women—who wouldn’t? But for Bi, I believe it goes deeper. Wouldn’t you agree that its about the ‘kinship-in-struggle’ he no doubt feels with these amazing women? Isn’t it a fact that all 3 of these people were born either poor or under-privileged, and faced seemingly insurmountable obstacles because of their racial, gender or social class, but came out on top and victorious?

I believe that Bi is attracted to people who’s ‘rags-to-riches’ stories are similar to his own. He once stated (in so many words) that he doesn’t care for people who were born with a silver spoon in their mouths. Some might take offense to this statement, but I understand where he’s coming from. Isn’t it true that some people never have to work for a thing in their lives, and for that reason, do not know the real value of hard work and determination. These people give up at the first hint of a test, and in affect, are not able to tap into their true and highest potential. But rather, they drift aimlessly in life, receiving hand-outs and perks that they don’t really deserve. Not the case with Oprah, the First Lady, and our Bi.

No doubt, this nation has come leaps and bounds from the days of slavery and civil rights, but it is probably most difficult to be both black and a woman in this world. Although he has yet to say, I do believe that Bi has taken note of this very thing, and I would go so far as to say that he’s probably inspired by our resilience and strength. After all, he can very much relate.

  1. I saw that and wish he had gotten to meet them (that sentence looks awkward). Maybe he’ll get an opportunity in the future.

SN: Just yesterday I read a comment on another site where a potrait artist said Michelle Obama reminds her of Elizabeth McGovern(sp?) I don’t see it.

  2. Gotta love Bi,

Now that he has said the kinds of people he want to meet, it’s great to know that he is that way. I hate when people just live in unrealism thinking everybody was born with a silver spoon in the mouth.

Even though I’m not a big Oprah fan( Only because she seems so pro-Hollywood), it’s great that he wants to meet women like her and especially Michelle Obama. As an African-American woman like they are,Black woman and Black people as a whole are frowned upon by many in the world and people just want to base the their
” research” about them from generalizations rather than getting to know our reality.
It’s great..and quite sure complimentary,to know that Bi is interested in meeting these woman. I admire these women for overcoming and continue to overcome the impossible.

  3. Because of his travels, I think Bi has been able to witness the diversity of other cultures and recognizes that Black people (as a collective) are so much more than the stereotypes that the media in most countries would portray us as.

That being said, I think he is highly impressed by the success of these women coming from humble beginnings as you stated, but also by the Power that they wield (have). I think he is impressed with how they handle that power with a certain dignified air. It’s Damned impressive and you (we) don’t get to see ourselves in this light too often in the realm of Mass Worldwide Media. You will not catch Michelle Obama or Oprah Winfrey “dropping it like it’s hot”. There is a confidence they each exude while running their business affairs, but at the same time they seem quite approachable and open (that is if you don’t get “body slammed” by the Secret Service). In general, he’s always been drawn to older women and they represent not only the type of woman he likes, but they each have reached a pinnacle on the road to their individual destinies and they have made HISTORY on many levels. They represent History and Greatness and Bi wants to be a part of it. I so can’t blame him………ME TOO Bi!! (SMILES)

  4. One more thing. It would have been GREAT if Bi had been able to meet the First Lady and/or Oprah and have a picture taken with them. That photo would have not only gone around the world in milliseconds but the Korean media would have “plastered” the photo on every media outlet in that country. Their biggest entertainer meeting our most Powerful dignitaries (African-American) no less.

It would be real hard for Korean celebrities to mock Black women on their variety shows then……without coming off “truly” prejudiced, as there would be photographic evidence and an eyewitness account (by Bi himself) contrary to the “Oh No She Didn’t (neck roll)” type of Sista. By then, they would have seen and witnessed the power and greatness of successful Black women up close. If jokes about Sistas were to continue after that, then there could be no misunderstandings about intentions. (*Just My Opinion*)

  5. Would it be interesting, if Oprah did one of her surprise attacks on Bi when he least expect it.Can you imagine the look on his face when Oprah and Mechelle comes to visit him in his studio for her show or special. He might start screaming at the top of his lungs, shock and joy. LOL^_^
Also, i don’t think it is a coincidence that Bi’s most inspired icons, who influence him to become an artist, which was Michael Jackson and Usher. Seriously, by any chance do you see a pattern or What!!?? I sure do. ;))
